5 Best Vlogging Cameras Under $100

So you are looking for the best vlogging camera under $100?

Well you have come to the right place.

Before we begin. Finding a vlogging camera that costs $100 or less is quite a struggle. Just know that getting a camera at this price point it will not have the best quality video but it will be good enough to start with.

5 Best Vlogging Cameras Under $100 (Quick Navigation)

Sony DSCW800

Canon PowerShot A2500

Canon PowerShot A810

FITFORT Action Camera 4K

Polaroid Cube HD

Two more things before we get into the details.

  1. If you do have the budget or you able to wait a little longer to be able to save to around $200 then I would definitely suggest doing that. The difference in quality is quite big between these cameras and $200 cameras.
  2. My personal opinion is to use your smartphone. If you have a smartphone anything from a Samsung S4 and up. That will be much better to start with for the following reasons:
    1. You already have the smartphone so you do not have to spend any money on a camera
    2. You can easily buy one of the small Gorilla pods to have a better grip on your phone while holding it, or to use it as a normal tripod which can be handy.
    3. You can use your remaining budget to get a cheap lavalier mic to use with your phone which will boost your audio quality quite dramatically

5 Best Vlogging Cameras Under $100

Sony W800

The first camera on this list is the Sony W800 point and shoot. This is the best camera on the list, the main reason for this is that it has optical image stabilization, 720p at 30fps and has its widest focal length is 26mm.

Optical image stabilization will make a big difference to your videos and your viewers will thank you for it. Have you ever seen those videos on YouTube that are shaky and terrible to watch? Well, that is what happens when you do not have optical image stabilization. It makes your video a mess and will really turn people away. One thing I will say is that if you are thinking of making videos where you do not walk around at all and mainly just sit a desk or something like that, then having optical image stabilization doesn’t make a difference.

As with most of the cameras at this price point, the Sony W800 only has 720p video at 30fps. To be fair 720p is still a good enough resolution for online video and most people will not have an issue with that.

This camera also comes with 5x optical zoom. This is not a massive amount of zoom but it decent enough. Generally with vlogging you won’t be using the zoom too many depending on the type of vlog you want to make.

Canon PowerShot A2500

The Sony W800(above) and this camera are pretty close to one another. The reason why the Sony is a bit better is because it has optical image stabilization as well as 720p 30fps video recording capabilities. The PowerShot A2500 also has optical image stabilization and 720p video recording, but it can only record at 25fps. It would make much of a difference but generally having higher fps video is better.

Other than that the Canon A2500 is right up there. It also has 5x optical zoom which is nice to have.

Like I said previously, this camera records video at 720p which really is good enough for online video. One of the benefits of recording at 720p is that when you need to edit your videos you will not need such a powerful computer to do it. The higher the resolution of the video the more computer power it takes when editing and exporting that video.

Canon PowerShot A810

Again, this camera is similar to the other two. In this price range most cameras are going to be very similar.

The Canon A810 has a 16MP sensor that can record at 720p at 25fps which is the same as the A2500. This camera also has 5x optical zoom.

The big difference between this camera and the two above is that it does not have optical image stabilization. But it does have digital image stabilization. Digital is not as good as optical but it is better than not having any. In some video editing programs they give the option to stabilize the video which is nice. Having to do that is an extra step, so it is nice to have something built in at least.

FITFORT Action Camera 4K

This is the first and only 4K camera on our list. And it has raving reviews. It has almost 5 stars with over 2300 reviews which is incredible!

There is another thing that separates the FITFORT from the previous cameras and that is that this is an action camera and not a point and shoot. This is actually a really good thing. Why would I say that? One unique thing about action cameras is that they often have ultra wide lenses which is great for vlogging. At the same time some might find that action cameras are too wide but that is up to you. I personally like the look in some situations.

But lets get back to the FITFORT. It has a 12MP sensor so you can take decent still images with this camera. But the main feature of this camera is the ability to output video at 4K! In fact with this camera you have quite a few recording options.

Recording Options:

  • 4K at 25fps
  • 2.7k at 30fps
  • 1080p at 60fps
  • 720p at 120fps

This is another reason that makes this camera special. All these modes allow you to be more creative with what you are filming. The above cameras would record video at a maximum of 30fps, this camera can do 120fps, that means you can do some really great slow motion clips with this.

Another great feature of this camera is that it comes with 19 accessories and 2 batteries which is amazing. Those 2 batteries might not seem to be useful but it can just make your life so much easier. Also some of the accessories make this camera waterproof for up to 100ft, so if you plan on doing some extreme adventures or just want to vlog while you are at gym and maybe swimming. This is the perfect camera for you.

There is big downside to this camera though. It has not image stabilization which can be an issue. To get around this you either need to not care about this feature or you will need to get some video editing software that can stabilize the video in post processing.

Polaroid Cube HD

Another lifestyle/action camera. The Polaroid Cube does not have all the features and accessories that the FITFORT camera does. But that doesn’t mean that it is a bad camera.

This is a fantastic little camera. It can record video at 720p or 1080p. Which means that only the FITFORT can record at higher resolution than this camera on this list!

Like the FITFORT camera, the Polaroid CUBE also has an ultra wide angle lens. The difference is that the FITFORT’s lens is 170 degrees wide and the Polaroid is 124 degrees wide. For most people this will be a much better choice when it comes to vlogging. This is more than wide enough to get the scene in the video, with not looking too distorted.

The Best Vlogging Camera Under $100: Sony W800

The reason that this is the best vlogging camera under $100 is due to the fact that it does pretty much everything. It doesn’t do anything particularly brilliantly but it does the job.

Now, while I say that the Sony W800 is the best vlogging camera under $100 I would personally go with the Polaroid CUBE. Reason being is that it has the ultra wide lens. It has some accessories, one of which make it waterproof. It shoots video at 1080p and it is super small. All I would do is make sure that my video editing software can do video stabilization.

The only reason I would consider the Polaroid CUBE over the FITFORT is due to how wide the FITFORT lens is. For me it is a little too wide for everyday vlogging use. But don’t get me wrong, it is a great little camera. If you will be vlogging extreme sports and the like the FITFORT is the way to go without a doubt.

If you would like to know more about what makes a good vlogging camera you can read my post here. And if you want to read more about what makes a good vlogging lens and why I say ultra wide lenses are the best for vlogging, you can took a look at my lens guide.
